Family Cruise with young kids
Family cruise travel is a great vacation. They have kid fun, they get to see and experience so many unique things and they make tons of memories each sailing.
I am a Platinum VIFP member with Carnival. Meaning I have cruised with Carnival a lot. Growing up, our vacations were often a family cruise. And those cruises carry with you as you age and has allowed me some great perks as an adult cruiser! We are passing on the love for cruising to our kids. This was our son’s 4th cruise and daughter’s second cruise. My parents came along with us. Here is an overview of our 4 day cruise on the Carnival Victory!
Carnival Cruise Line: All aboard the Carnival Victory
We arrived at the Port of Miami parking garage around 11:00am and the boarding line was already super long winding around the outside of the building. Luckily, a Platinum perk is priority boarding. So we skipped that long line and were checked in taking our signature boarding photo by 11:30am!
We like to head to the lido deck first thing to grab a drink and then explore the ship a bit before heading to our room.
Carnival Food and Drinks
Picky eaters, indulgent eaters, healthy eaters… a Carnival cruise has food to satisfy any type of eater. Our kids loved the fruit and cheese, I loved the deli (turkey ruben!) and the pizza was an all around family favorite.
We had experienced the All Inclusive Drink Package aboard Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas, so we thought we would try out the Carnival Cheers package to see how it compared. To learn more about the Carnival Cheers package, I will have a detailed post up soon. Check out some of the yummy beverages we had. The Alchemy Bar aboard the Carnival Victory was by far my favorite drink spot! And the kids loved the “pink smoothie” aka virgin daiquiri.
Ports of Call: Key West and Cozumel
This was a 4-night cruise, so it only stopped at two ports. In Key West we walked to the Butterfly Conservatory (weel worth a visit) and in Cozumel we took a cab to Chankanaab Adventure Beach Park.
Plenty to do aboard the Carnival Victory
From putt-putt golf, pool time, music, movies under the stars and daily themed activities, no one should get bored. The biggest problem you will have is picking what you want to do. Lots will be left undone, meaning you will need to book another cruise!
Camp Ocean is the kids club for 2-11 year olds. Free kid activities take place morning all through the night. We took the kids each evening from dinner until 10pm. They had a blast each day and it gave us some time to enjoy dinner and the nightly music and comedy shows.
