Las Olas Blvd in Fort Lauderdale has a number of fantastic restaurants to choose from. On a recent visit to the South Florida city, I enjoyed a Friday night dinner at Grille 401. We had reservations and I am glad we did because this place was packed at 6:30pm! I found out the bar has a really popular happy hour – Monday – Friday from 4pm to 7 pm it is BOGO cocktails and half off all appetizers! So you may want to plan your dinner after a round of happy hour drinks and an appetizer at the bar.
Grille 401: Ambiance
As we were walking up to the restaurant the music was blaring from a DJ stand on the patio. It had me worried as I was expecting a nice, calm dinner. But once we walked in to the restaurant and were seated at a table the sound was minimum. If you are wanting a party vibe to kick off your weekend then they have it at the bar and patio. If you are wanting a chill, upscale setting to wind down your work week then they have that too in the dining room. The restaurant itself is very large.
Cheers at Grille 401
I am a sicker for a creative specialty cocktail menu. Grille 401 had several unique cocktails on the menu that demanded my attention. Between the two of us we tried 4 different cocktails and enjoyed them all, but the Jalapeño Casamigos Margarita was my favorite- no surprise there!
The Food at Grille 401
We started with the Tuna Poke Stack. Beautiful display of a generous amount of tuna, avocado chunks, ponzu sauce and crispy wontons. We both agreed that we could have done without as much wontons, but overall very good.
For entrees, I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon. It was one of the best salmon dishes I have had in a very long time. The Atlantic salmon was topped with whole-grain mustard butter and cooked on a cedar plank then served with a massive Kale salad.
We were so full that we skipped dessert, but I am confident that they would be delicious. The portions are large so you will not have to worry about leaving hungry.

The restaurant is located on the popular Las Olas Blvd. It has a prime corner spot very close to the parking garage. Reservations are highly recommended.
