As a family, we have made it a priority to stay fit together and to inspire our kids to live a long healthy life despite obstacles that are sure to come their way. My husband is an inspiration to all when it comes to not letting excuses interfere with his health and fitness. He has suffered from chronic shoulder pain for over a decade from a severe injury. He has never allowed that to be his excuse to not maintain peak physical shape.  Today I want to share some tips on how to manage pain so that it never becomes a reason to live an unhealthy life:

1. Stay Hydrated.  It is important for everyone to drink plenty of water each day. It is especially important if you are highly active because if you’re not properly hydrated, your body can’t perform at its highest level. You may experience fatigue, muscle cramps, dizziness, or more serious symptoms when dehydrated. A dehydrated body can cause chronic pain to inflame. He keeps a large glass of water at his desk all day, filling it up several times.

2. Keep the muscle stretched throughout the day. Since it is his shoulder that is in constant pain, it is important to keep the muscles in his neck, shoulders, and back stretched throughout the day to remove extra tension. He works a desk job, which may seem like a great break for someone with shoulder pain. However, it can actually cause more harm after hours of sitting in one spot, slouched in the desk chair.  By taking stretch breaks every hour he keeps the muscles relaxed and blood flowing.

3. Use a Natural Pain Reliever: He uses Curamin® EXTRA STRENGTH Stop Pain Now. We try to avoid prescription medications and even use over the counter medications sparsely.  But as we all know sometimes we all need a little help from time to time. When we do need the help of a pain reliever we try to find safe, all natural dietary supplements.  My husband’s first choice for his chronic pain relief is Curamin® dietary supplements. Curamin® is his top choice because it is safe, effective, and non-addictive. Plus it makes me happy to know that is has been voted #1 for pain relief and recognized with over 20 awards in the natural product industry. When pain is the problem, Curamin® is the answer.

You can find Curamin® Extra Strength 60 count, at local health food stores nationwide. The great thing about shopping at fine health food stores is the level of service and knowledge the staff usually has about the products they carry.  We purchase ours at Ada’s Natural Market, a local organic grocery store, which has a great Curamin® display, with information, set up in the middle of the supplements and vitamin section.  You can check out this store locator to find a store near you!

4. Keep to a daily workout routine. The most difficult tip to follow is to stay active. Pain is a reasonable excuse to rest and stop working out. If chronic pain stopped my husband from working out he would never get to the gym. The funny thing about working out is once you take one day off it turns into two and before you know it you haven’t worked out in months. So when combined with all the previous tips he is able to achieve a normal fitness routine despite his chronic shoulder pain.

The most important thing to remember is to find ways to manage the chronic pain that work for you so that it doesn’t disrupt your life. Don’t let your chronic pain keep you from living life the way you want to, whether it’s hitting the gym everyday or traveling more or just having a pain free work day – I suggest you say Hello Curamin®. Goodbye Pain.  Have you ever taken a dietary supplement for pain versus over the counter pain medicines? Do you have additional advice on managing pain while working out? I’d love to hear your suggestions in the comments!
