It is a tradition of ours to go to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Walt Disney World each year. This is an annual event held on select dates in September and October. General park admission to the Magic Kingdom will not gain you access to this seasonal event, so be sure to pre-purchase tickets for the specific date you want to attend.
This was my fourth year at the Halloween Party! I’m sharing my top tips on how to make the most of this Disney event so that you enjoy yourself and get the full value out of your ticket.
Purchase Party Tickets Early
This party is held on a limited number of dates each year. It is highly recommended to pre-purchase your tickets as early as possible. With its popularity, many of the dates sell out quickly. Check here as fall approaches to see available ticket dates.
Arrive at the park 3 hours before the party begins
One of the great things about the tickets to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is that you can gain access to the Magic Kingdom three hours before the special event begins! This gives you time to start visiting your favorite attractions before the Halloween festivities officially begin.
You can spend the entire day at Walt Disney World, but you will need to purchase regular admission for that day, in addition to your Halloween Party ticket. That’s a long day, and Disney isn’t cheap. I recommend saving your regular admission for a different day and relaxing on the morning of the party.
Wear a comfortable costume
I encourage the entire family to wear some type of not-too-scary costume – but make sure it is comfortable. After all, you will be walking around in the Florida heat for up to 8 hours. (And it is super hot during this time of year) In addition to the heat and walking you will be climbing in and out of rides, so take all that into consideration when choosing a costume. Most little girls want to wear a princess dress, mine included, but I always have a princess themed tank under it with shorts so if she gets tired or too hot in it then it is an easy outfit fix.
Skip the first parade, wait for the second
While everyone is lining up to catch the first parade, take advantage of shorter lines at the popular attractions. There is another parade time later in the night. Plus it is darker, making it more fun when the Headless Horseman gallops by.
Do not miss the fireworks!
I repeat, do not miss the fireworks. The fireworks display at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is special and by far my favorite show! The villains take over for a unique light show spectacle that only happens a few times a year. It is by far my favorite Disney Fireworks show.
My family returns to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party every year that we can (the perks of living in Florida) because it is such a fun event.
I hope that these tips will help your family make the most of your night in the Magic Kingdom!
