I had the opportunity to stay at The Seafire Resort, A Kimpton Hotel, the newest hotel in the Grand Cayman, for three nights. This swanky, boutique styled hotel is located on the North end of the popular Seven Mile Beach in the Grand Cayman. It offers an atmosphere of laid back luxury that is great for both families or couples!
First, you will need to get to this beautiful hotel. The Seafire Resort is located directly on the North end of Seven Mile Beach. Since it sits farther away from the main area of this popular beach it is more secluded than other hotel options. From the airport, it will cost you about $35 USD, and there’s really no other way of getting here unless you rent a car, which is what I did from Andy’s Car Rental.
TIP: If you are considering a car rental make sure you are prepared for driving on the left side of the road and mastering the art of 2 lane roundabouts. Also, the road signs are scarce.
Welcome to Seafire Resort, Grand Cayman
The moment you arrive, you will be greeted by one or all of the smiling bellman (or woman) and you will feel sincerely welcomed. Before you have time to make it to the front desk, you will be greeted with a glass of champagne to make check-in seamless.
The lobby is beautiful, swanky, and large. There are plenty of areas to sit, a pool table, the concierge desk, and refreshing fruit-infused water stationed in the lobby. This is also where the daily complimentary happy hour of wine takes place along with the morning coffee station-both iced and hot are served.
The Rooms: Cozy and Luxurious
I had a double room with an ocean view. The rooms are modern, spacious and have nice sized bathrooms. The details are in all corners from the customized headboards to the USB outlets to the considerate amenities like the umbrella and yoga mat. I read that the vibrant color scheme of the rooms were inspired by the Cayman Islands’ cymbidium orchids and red royal poincianas. It is an easy space to get well rested for the next days Caribbean sun!
Seafire Resort Pool, Beach, Watersports & Gym
The pool is beautiful and large with three separated, yet connected areas. There are plenty of lounge chairs available around the pool. The pool attendant comes to you with a lounge cover and towel as soon as you are seen picking your spot. If you have a day to devote to relaxing at the hotel I suggest renting one of the cabanas.
The beach at the hotel is lovely and feels secluded like you are barely sharing this slice of world-famous beach with anyone. Again, the resort offers plenty of lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towel service complimentary to guests. The water is gorgeous and addicting, I never wanted to leave it.
Watersports that are non-motorized are free to use as a benefit of the daily resort fee. So you can paddleboard, kayak, or use the small sailboat whenever you choose. I rented a Jet Ski, which is an extra cost, and booked at the Red Sail Sports Dive Shop located on the hotel property. It truly was one of the highlights of my trip! The water is smooth and you really get to see the blue colors of the seven-mile beach ocean!
The gym at the Seafire is large enough to get a decent workout in for each muscle group as well as some good cardio. There are a handful of cardio machines, including treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes. The standard weight machines for legs, chest, and back as well as a thorough set of free weights. Kettle balls, ab balls, stretch rollers, and yoga matts round out the items provided in the fitness center.
