Living in Southwest Florida, we have the opportunity to take a lot of fun weekend trips around Florida. There are so many family friendly getaways in the sunshine state and Orlando makes one of the top destinations! There are so many places to visit and things to see in Orlando. On a recent trip I discovered that fun times can be had right at the IDrive360 Complex. And if you stay at Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive you will not need your car until you are ready to head back home.
Wyndham Orlando Resort on IDRIVE
I found the Wyndham Orlando Resort located on International Drive to be the perfect location for a family trip if you plan to spend any time in this popular area of Orlando. The hotel is walking distance to the entertainment complex, IDRIVE360. In addition to the attractions at Idrive 360 you are near so much more (Seaworld, Universal, Dave & Busters, tons or food and more).
Reasons besides the location that I love the Wyndham Orlando Resort: it is budget friendly (parking is free!), has onsite dining, serves Starbuck’s coffee, has a large pool with tons of chairs, a nice fitness room and large family suites. My kids enjoyed the Family Fun Suite because of their own private space with a bunk bed, tv and bean bag chair! The property is also beautiful – tons of green space right in the middle of a theme park and entertainment district!
IDRIVE 360
If you are visiting Orlando then a trip to the I-Drive360 complex should be in your plans. The iDrive 360 complex is an attraction, dining, and entertainment complex. Below I detail the four must visit I-drive 360 attractions if you have kids. But know that there is an equally unique line-up of restaurants experiences from full service to fast casual and quick serve. And the best way to see all these attractions plus many others in the surrounding area without spending an insane amount of money is by purchasing the GO Orlando Card. For more information in planning your time here visit their website.
The Orlando Eye
The Orlando Eye truly is a must see when in Orlando. We have experienced it during the day and late at night. Next time I want to take a ride at sunset. It is fun to see the city from the sky. TIP – go at a slower time and you will have the entire capsule to yourself, which makes it even more fun and memorable for the kids. Check out all our Orlando Eye photos from the most recent ride here and find out how you can get discount tickets for your next visit.
SEALife Aquarium
The SEA LIFE Aquarium Orlando is located in the same building as the entrance to the Orlando Eye. This attraction takes the aquarium experience to a whole new level with an interactive underwater adventure that provides a face-to-face experience with more than 5,000 creatures including tons of colorful fish, seahorses, jellyfish, sharks, and more. The aquarium is divided into themed habitats with kid-friendly interactive displays. A big focus is also placed on the aquarium’s rescue and preservation efforts.
This is perfect for families with young children because it provides kid-level viewing opportunities, hands-on rock pool, and a small playground to get the wiggles out.
Madame Tussauds
Madame Tussauds has built a world-wide brand by featuring lifelike wax figures of history’s and pop culture’s most iconic people. I have visited a few across the US and this one is my favorite because it is very kid friendly, featuring people and characters that even my three year old recognized, Like Kung Fu Panda and Taylor Swift. My son loved getting his photo with his Harry Potter crush, Emma Watson. They have tons of props to use in the photos with the “celebrities.” For example, you can put on boxing gloves and robe while getting your picture taken with Muhammad Ali. You will have a chance to get silly photos taken with a variety of stars from award-winning film actors, to historical and modern world leaders, sports stars, music legends as well as figures important to Florida.
Sugar Factory Orlando
Adults and kids alike enjoy the elaborate sugar-filled menu at the Sugar Factory Orlando. From unique appetizers to creative alcoholic beverages and over-the-top milkshakes – you will be bouncing off the walls when you leave this Idrive360 restaurant. This is a memorable meal you will not want to miss when visiting Orlando. We went on a Thursday afternoon; ordered several appetizers – our favorite being the fried mac and cheese pops. My son ordered the Make a Wish Milkshake and my daughter got the classic ice cream sandwich- which there was nothing classic about it because it was the size of her head! We needed to run off some of that sugar rush and the green space at the Idrive360 complex proved to be the perfect spot.
