LEGOland Florida, located in Winter Haven, offers a fun nearby escape for families. With its interactive attractions and a sprawling waterpark, LEGOland Florida ensures that visitors of all ages, even teenagers, enjoy their visit. While LEGOland is often perceived as a destination for younger children, the park does have plenty to offer teenagers in the family allowing everyone to enjoy the vacation. Recently, I had the pleasure of taking my three older kids- most likely making it our last year to truly enjoy this theme park as part of their childhood.
There are some thrilling rides mixed in with the easy to handle rides for the younger, interactive attractions, and the adrenaline-pumping water slides at the water park to ensure that teens stay engaged and entertained.
Some of our favorite attractions included:
- The Dragon: This thrilling roller coaster, which journeys through a LEGO-themed medieval castle, was a hit with my teens.
- Ninjago: This interactive ride uses cutting-edge technology that allows riders to control their experience, be competitive and rack up points- a big plus for tech-savvy teens.
- Miniland USA: This area is fascinating to everyone with its intricate LEGO models of famous American landmarks.
- Twin Chasers: These twin water slides provide thrill to those wanting an adrenaline spike.
- Wave Pool: We enjoyed both riding the gentle waves and relaxing by the shore, making it a great spot for family relaxation.
I love how the park’s emphasis on creativity provides some unique hands-on experiences that can appeal to older kids giving them something different than the usual theme park traditions.
LEGOland Florida offers themed accommodations: The LEGOLAND Hotel, Pirate Hotel and the Beach Retreat. Over the years, we have stayed at all of these options which offer LEGO-themed rooms, pools and restaurants, character meet-and-greets, and nightly entertainment, but can be very pricey. So if you want to keep this summer trip on the lower end there are a handful of reasonably priced hotels within minutes from LEGOland!

Tips for visiting LEGOLAND Florida with Older Kids
While LEGOland Florida is often perceived as a destination for younger children, my experience showed that older kids can have an equally fantastic time.
Here are some tips to make the most of your LEGOland visit with older kids:
- Prioritize Thrill Rides: Head to the more thrilling rides like The Dragon early in the day to avoid long lines and maximize the fun.
- Engage in Interactive Zones: Spend time in the Imagination Zone, where older kids can let their creativity shine and engage in friendly competitions.
- Explore the Water Park: Allocate a good portion of your day to the water park. The combination of thrill slides and wave pool caters perfectly to older kids.
