We travel a lot as a family. The four of us plus our pug. We have been on a number of adventures already this year from exploring Key West to a safari in Central Florida. I like to think that all our family adventures have helped open my family’s mind to all the possibilities of the world, including foods that are often not well received by kids. When we are not exploring places we explore tastes. Their taste buds are quite adventurous for their ages. Our dog, Oreo, also has quite the adventurous appetite. He is always looking for the next bite of food. I am sure all dog owners can relate to my feeling of guilt when I am devouring a delicious dinner full of flavor and nutrients while my precious furbaby watches in the distance. I recently changed his food to Rachael Ray Nutrish® PEAK Open Range Recipe™ with Beef, Venison & Lamb so that he can enjoy some of the same flavors and nutrients we enjoy as a family. I followed the suggested recommendation by gradually introducing the new food to him over a 7-10 days by replacing it slowly with his other food. He adjusted perfectly and is loving his new meal!
How I introduced a lamb recipe to my kids
I have found it easy to get the kids interested in trying something new when I get our Oreo involved. He has been part of our family well before the kids came along. They even treat him like another sibling. So when I set out to introduce lamb to my kids, I first got them interested and excited about introducing a new dog food to our pug. They joined me on a shopping trip to pick out the new Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® PEAK Open Range Recipe™ with Beef, Venison & Lamb or Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® PEAK Northern Woodlands Recipe™ with Turkey, Duck & Quail.
You can easily find both Nutrish PEAK Open Range Recipes on the dog food aisle at your local store or at a number of online shops. I got a great deal on it at my local neighborhood Walmart. You can save $4.00 with this coupon.
We talked about all the natural ingredients in Nutrish Peak and discussed how lamb is a great source of protein. Here are a few reasons why you will be happy serving Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® PEAK Open Range Recipe™ to your furbabies:
- Real Recipes. Real Ingredients.
- Protein-rich and grain-free to satisfy your dog’s cravings
- Real U.S. farm-raised beef is always the #1 ingredient (Open Range Recipe)/ Real U.S. farm-raised turkey is always the #1 ingredient (Northern Woodlands Recipe).
- 30% high-quality protein
We like to try new things for ourselves as well as keep things as natural as possible too. After talking about how happy Oreo will be about his new food, we went looking around the grocery store for some of the same ingredients for our dinner.
That is when I told them about trying lamb meatballs with their favorite spaghetti. My kids love pasta and would eat it every day if I served it. This makes it easy to work in new foods into a dish with noodles. From veggies to new cheeses, pasta has been a successful method for uncovering their love of many unique foods. I combined a number of nutrient dense ingredients to create a simple lamb meatball recipe that the kids loved. And they were excited to try lamb at the same time that Oreo was gradually getting introduced to the new PEAK recipe.
