Single-use plastics were made for convenience, but there’s no question plastic is one of the world’s biggest environmental hazards. Plastic starts polluting the environment as it’s produced using fossil fuels, and it doesn’t stop there — 91% of plastic isn’t recycled and the vast majority ends up in landfills and waterways, where it takes nearly 400 years to break down. Meanwhile, we’re faced with the dire prediction that by mid-century the oceans will contain more plastic waste than fish, ton for ton.

Where does all the plastic go?

Plastic typically ends up in a landfill. If not there then it finds its way into the ocean and then enters the food chain, which is a big concern for human health.  Are you ingesting microplastics?

Luckily, we all now have a better alternative. Food grade silicone is the material used for most reusable snack bag products. I can’t believe I am just now using this alternative to the many single-use plastic baggie needs I have. Lunch: switching from the plastic sandwich bags
