Top 4 Florida Staycation Spots in 2024

January 26, 2024

In recent times, the concept of vacationing has shifted gears, placing greater emphasis on staycations—those luxurious getaways not too far from home that offer a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure for families. Here are four Florida staycation locations that my family recommends for those looking for a getaway that they can easily this year!

Crane’s Beach House in Delray

Nestled in the heart of Delray Beach, Crane’s Beach House epitomizes the essence of a hidden tropical paradise. This boutique hotel boasts captures the blend of old-world charm and modern amenities. The intimate setting of this resort offers an escape from the bustling city life around it, welcoming guests with lush gardens, serene courtyards, two small but inviting pools and a quick walk to the beautiful beach of Delray.

With only 28 rooms and suites, Crane’s Beach ensures personalized attention to each guest. The beautiful accommodations exude a relaxed beach vibe, featuring private balconies or patios, cozy furnishings, and soothing decor.  Beyond the comfort of the resort, guests can explore easily on foot Delray Beach’s vibrant art scene, savor delectable cuisine at local eateries, or simply bask in the sun at the nearby pristine beaches.

There really is a lot to do is this charming beach town. A must do on your list of places to visit is the Silverball Retro Arcade. Last year we had a four day staycation in Delray Beach, checkout this 3/4 day Delray Beach itinerary that your family will love!

Oceans Edge in Stock Island

Depending on where you live in the sunshine state, this may not be a Florida Staycation spot that is easy for you to get to. But if you are in the more Southern parts of the state, then definitely add it to your list. Perched on the secluded Stock Island, Oceans Edge Key West Resort, Hotel & Marina offers a luxurious escape with panoramic views of the serene ocean. This sprawling resort comprises 175 spacious guestrooms and suites, each thoughtfully designed to provide utmost comfort and relaxation.

The resort features six swimming pools, a fitness center, recreation hut for outdoor activities and onsite dining. Guests get complimentary usage of bikes, kayaks or paddleboards to explore the beautiful surroundings.

A short drive or shuttle ride from the resort is the lively streets of Key West where you will have plenty of options for food and fun. Oceans Edge provides a serene retreat while allowing easy access via a hotel shuttle to the island’s famous attractions, including Duval Street and Mallory Square. Our favorite family activity in Key West was the Ghost Trolley Tour followed by the Kingdom Escape Games we stopped at on our drive down- it is located in the Upper Keys, so makes for a good break along the drive down!

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs

Nestled amidst lush greenery and overlooking Estero Bay, the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs is an oasis of luxury and tranquility practically in our backyards as Southwest Florida residents. This sprawling resort is 26 acres of tropical paradise and offers a wide array of amenities for a memorable family staycation. Guest rooms are spacious, clean and modern.

There are a variety of things to do in the area, but honestly this staycation is perfect for those who want to enjoy some water fun! The resort features three-acre poolscape with a private waterpark featuring multiple waterslides and a lazy river, heated adults-only pool, hot tub, walk-in adventure pool, and cool waterfall pool. Plus you will have access to the nearby beach via their boat transportation! And if the adults are looking for some pampering time, a visit to their rejuvenating spa is a must for ultimate relaxation. Great restaurants onsite too making it the perfect staycation spot because you don’t have to leave for anything!

Loews Sapphire Falls at Universal Orlando

You will feel like you just stepped into a tropical paradise that is smack in the middle of theme park heaven. The resort is beautiful, large and amazingly clean considering the amount of people constantly gathered throughout here. There’s a giant pool area with cabanas, a bar, and activities along with some delicious onsite restaurants. The resort offers a convenient complimentary water taxi to theme parks and City Walk or you can take the Universal walking path.

The biggest selling point for me with this Universal resort as a Florida Staycation spot is that you don’t have to pay the price of the luxury resorts but get the benefit of pool hoping at them. So for me it is worth the little extra expense over Cabana Bay or the new Endless Summer resorts. We have stayed at them all and this is the best value for the price in my opinion, especially if you are wanting to enjoy the luxury pool vibes Universal hotels offer. Plus many tiems throughout the year they offer deeply discounted rates for Florida residents. Read my Tips of Universal Orlando Pool Hoping here!
